I'll be your girl for all seasons...
the one "normal" question on most MeMe's that I dread is "favorite season?"
I cannot answer that, I love them all... although I will admit since moving down to the bay area, I don't see a whole lot of winter...
Fall would be my choice if you held a gun to my head... because I love that you can wear sweaters, boots, jeans, and a hoodie but not need a jacket...
I love driving in the car and being warm, but not so warm I need the A/C... Fall is the only time of year I can drive with my windows open and not succumb to an allergy attack...
I love starting a fire indoors, but not really needing it because it's cold, more just because it's nice. And starting one in the outside fire pit because it really IS TOO COLD to be out there without one.
It seems like the colors of the leaves change overnight...
a big bowl of soup and some crusty bread is a perfectly good meal! Turkey sandwiches with Cranberry Sauce also become a regular on my menu... only during November and December...
I love the smells of fall... the pumpkin pie spice that I smell from everyone converting to Pumpkin Spice Lattes... the cinnamon pine-cones you can get for a dollar at Hel-Mart... I love that I can bake cookies without anyone complaining that I'm overheating the kitchen...
I replace my cotton sheets with flannel... my flip flops and sandals with clogs and boots... tank tops with sweatshirts... boxer shorts with PJ bottoms...
my hands and knees start to ache... I shave my legs less and put more time between pedicures, and that's OK... because it's just part of fall...
every day as I leave for work, I take a look at the scarves I've crocheted thru the years, and either pick one, or realize I need to make a new one to go with the new outfit... or really I should just make new ones because sitting in front of a football game with a ball of yarn and a crochet hook is one of my all time favorite ways to spend a Sunday.
I bought an electric blanket today... My window in my bedroom is still cracked, because it smells soooooo good outside... but the house I moved into last year is old, and big, and not very well insulated... so my room gets pretty cold at night... and rather than pay for the entire house to be warmed up, I'll drop the cash now for my bed to stay warm thru the winter.
Instead of tea... I'll have hot spiced cider in the evening to wind down...
My favorite down throw has been washed and dried with an extra fabric softener sheet... I've pulled out all my "gramma pussy" socks (the jedi calls those furry, soft, slipper socks those) and my flannel PJ bottoms, and too big hoodie sweatshirts... and instead of shorts & a tank, this will now be my after-work attire... sexy... I know...!!!
I'm sure come Winter, I'll come up with an equally compelling post about how much I love the cold & rain... but for now... I'll say Fall... Fall is my favorite season.
