Santa Pub Crawl...

Last night we did a pub crawl... after all the "networking" there had to be at least 60 "santa's" by the time we hit the third bar! I went last minute, expecting to maybe know 3 people. When I walked in, I was happily surprised to see a dozen people I at least knew enough to sit and talk to.

By the end of the night, I'd mingled with all the Kris Kringle's enough to get an New Years Eve party invite with some CRAZY people who throw the party every year just so they can dress outlandishly... and let me tell you... there were some CRAZY santa outfits...

we had a "rasta" santa, complete with shorts & dreadlocks, a "hippy" santa in tye-dye... a few "naughty" girl santa's... who could NOT be warm in the outfits they had on, even if they had stockings on (and not much more)! There were a few elves, and more "traditional" santa's... but it was so fun to be walking through downtown, a little tipsy, and seeing the look on people faces as they saw a few dozen santa's weaving to the next bar.

I only had a drink at every other bar, and the last place was beer/wine only... so 2 vodka/crans and 1 beer I can't remember the name of... and then I walked back to my car around 10pm... so 3 drinks in 4 hours... all good, right?

I thought so too... but when I came home, it was raining, and when I went to slow down for the turn into my drive way, I'm not sure if my judgement was off or the wet pavement, but I ended up hitting the curb at a weird angle and BANGED my rim... HARD... to where it's got a big gashing chunk hanging off of it...

So... now I can't sleep... I'm worried about how much it's going to cost to replace the rim... I'm worried that I was over the limit when I drove and what else could have happened... I'm worried that I could have "misjudged/rainy pavemented" a thousand other things, other than my driveway and what the circumstances might have been. I'm feeling stupid worrying about the cost of the rim, when thinking back, if I would have had a "different" accident, and had to do a breathalyzer, I'm not sure if I would have blown the limit or not... and god knows if I'm stressing about the cost of replacing a rim, how do I think I can afford a DUI?!?

I honestly didn't feel drunk as I walked to my car... and I didn't feel drunk when I was driving... but the "BAM" that I heard as I hit that curb, scared the snot out of me. Looking at how bad my rim is, makes me realize I'm lucky that's the only thing damaged. I'm going to program a cab company into my cell phone right now...

Good for you for you deciding to program the cab company. I do that. I do not drive after even 1 drink. For me it is a personal choice. Since surgery I dont think I can trust my body or brain to make the right decisions.

We had someone in once of support group mtgs state that we would rate high on a breathalizer even if we felt fine. We get drunk fast and sober up fast but the alochol is still there.....

Smooches!
